Testing Program to Prevent Selling Mislabeled Fish at Retail
AFT will help retailers set up a testing program to meet their individual needs. Our expert food scientists will examine your distribution channel and suggest the best criteria to insure the best program. For example, a large grocery store chain may decide to require testing be performed by distributors, who will provide the AFT test results to the store, before the store will purchase. The store could test their inventory at their distribution centers or at their retail counters as well. A single location (or small chain) restaurant may choose to purchase only from suppliers that test and, on occasion, test a sample of product purchased to improve their confidence in their supply chain. In either case, the cost to the retailer is minimal because the retailer can just add the DNA confirmation by AFT as a requirement to purchase seafood.
